Why Digital Inaccessibility is everyone’s problem-and how to fix it

When we neglect digital accessibility, we exclude millions from fully participating in society.

its not just a problem for disabled people; it’s a challenege that impacts us all. Global Accessibly day serves as a powerful remainder that creating inclusive digital spaces isn’t just the responsibility of a few-it’s a collective effort that benefits everyone.” (Charity Digital 26th June 2024)

Community Focus With Me And Simon.

To achieve that we do the following –

Engage

Thank you to all our volunteers for our achievements to date in helping over 1200 disabled people to gain value from their digital journeys.

Making Digital Affordable

Our recent support from #jobnetworkbristol ( has been a lifeline for one of our beneficiaries. Jimmy had a Stroke, which has left him mainly offline with only occasional trips to the library. But with the help of jobnetworkbristol our project took receipt of a tablet, set it up and presented to Jimmy. To help in the digital journey Jimmy is now an active user of the online course: Learn My Way https://www.learnmyway.com/ providing easy to follow examples covering a variety of online features and functions relating to emails, accessing socially essential services, security, social media, dealing with errors and making your PC/Laptop accessible whether for hearing , visual, physical or cognitive support. We can provide one-to-one mentoring alongside face to face support at our weekly drop in sessions.

Creating a level playing for all – Digital Inclusion

Whether we like it or not technology is expanding into all areas of our social and economic daily lives. For many, this can be a struggle because systems are not accessible or are complete nonsense to those who recall days gone by when “chatting over the garden wall” was the mainstay of the local neighbourhood. Across the UK local digital support services reach out to those on the digital periphery in lots of ways and, critically, provide social support, in the traditional sense, to make sure people take ownership of their local projects. At Park View we constantly review how we extend our support and always look to improve based on your experience. But we still need to do much more!
