What is famous about this dog? Did it have a owner in real life?

The dog in the picture is called Greyfriers Bobby and the story goes that when his owner died the dog lay on his grave till he passed away himself. The local people brought food for him and gave him blankets in the winter to keep him warm.

I never knew that Marion it’s all interesting stuff I just thought it was a normal statue of a dog. I didn’t realise it was a famous dog of a famous owner.
